As promised, here is the latest installment of the Mortal Champion series by Reed James.  As the title implies, it is full of hot, passionate sex full of interwoven plot and fantasy.  This series is, thus far, not disappointing in the least, and will have you fixating until the next book comes out (so thankful he's a fast writer!).

I will forewarn everyone that this has absolutely nothing to do with erotica or reviews, however this is a big reason that I am having to take a short break from reviewing everything on my list.

Up until a week ago, I worked at an art studio as an art instructor, called Art by the Glass Studio.  Unfortunately the place went under, however I was given an opportunity to keep the business alive under new ownership.

This is something I am very passionate about, and a career that has let me pursue my dream in the arts, while also allowing me to continue to publish and review erotica on the side.

Unfortunately, I do not have this kind of money lying around that would allow me to purchase the business outright, but the current owner is an awesome woman who is giving me the opportunity to explore other means to do this.  Thus, I have started an indiegogo campaign to try and raise money.

It is completely understandable if you do not have the means to donate, however even spreading this campaign around to try and get the word out would be incredibly helpful.  The sooner I can get this going, the faster I can get back to a life filled with wonderful reads!

Cracking Up

By now, I'm sure everyone realizes I am a sucker for erotica with plot.  Cracking Up! does not disappoint in this aspect.  A gripping story that explores certain D/s scenarios in an uncommon way, also with some very "dirty" sex scenes.

It's a little off the wall, but no one said that is a bad thing.  While it's a shorter read, it will keep you captivated the whole way through with the unique situations.

Winter's Kiss

Reed James is at it again, bringing us the sequel to The Pixie's Passion, book two of The Mortal Champion series.  A war between fairy courts, seductions of supernatural beings-- you can't ask for more than that!  Well, you could, but you'd be hard pressed to ask for more than this book offers, aside from the next one in the series.

If you thought The Pixie's Passion was steamy, it doesn't hold a torch to the more detailed and creative sexual adventures in Winter's Kiss.  I'd highly recommend an outlet for sexual frustration after reading this book!

Miami Steam

A suspenseful erotica that is sure to keep you glued to the pages! Miami Steam may not be the longest erotica ever featured here, but it does not lack in quality.  The story starts out at a fast pace, building up to a climax that has a few twists and turns.  The way the two main characters bump heads in the beginning adds levity to their situation, and by the end when a crazed killer makes their move, anxiety is introduced into an otherwise heated book.

Wait for Me

Get ready for an emotional journey filled with intensity.  Wait for Me reads like a trilogy in one book, and will not have you complaining about the length (we all know that size isn't everything, but the larger the better sometimes!).  This book is not for the faint of heart or anyone who gets squeamish easily.  There are some brutal scenes that deal with some heavy issues.  Despite the seriousness of the book, there are moments in here that are wonderfully passionate and have very erotic scenes.

This is a well written book, long enough to give you a complex plot from beginning to end, and does not pull any punches.

The Pixie's Passion

Pixie's passion from The Mortal Champion series is the newest development by Reed James.  While this story has plenty of sex to keep a reader changing garments, this book contains more than *just* smut.  The intertwined worlds of fae and reality merge fluidly as a pixie is sent to win a mortal to the side of the Seelie.  If you have any previous knowledge of the fae, this book reads much easier as beloved characters from old tales emerge like Mab, Titania, and Oberon.  There will be no disappointment as The Pixie's Passion weaves smut and plot together succinctly.  Without a dull moment to it, and full of steamy pixie passion (see what I did there?) you will be demanding more of these.  The bad news: This is the start of the series so we'll just have to wait for the next.  The good news: Reed James has a plethora of well-written erotica to keep you entertained until the next book is out.
If you're a fan of urban fantasy, fairy erotica, or something that is packed with plot and smut, then you will not be disappointed with this series.  Definitely go grab a copy to keep your devices warm!

Roll Against Trust

There isn't much more that I could ask for with Roll Against Trust.  It's an erotica chalk full of nerds, sex, and threesomes.

While this has some nerdy qualities (and I say that with the utmost appreciation), the gaming aspect of the book is really only background noise to the relationships that are being developed.  Tasha is a great representation of a class of women that are underrepresented in novels with her tom-boyish attitude and love of table top RPG's.

This book does a great job of weaving witty dialogue, intense sex scenes and a complicated friendship that few would understand.  I absolutely love the relationship between the three friends and was thrilled to see that explored.  There are too many books that shy away from the complexity of threesome's, and Allyson Lindt does a wonderful job dealing with it.

Left to Chance

The second in The Chances Are series, Left to Chance takes place in that sinfully delightful corner of the world known as Vegas.  The old adage is, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but is that ever true?  Following characters from the first book, Left to Chance lets the reader take a look at the lives of Eliza and Jake, a dominant male with a no-bullshit kind of woman.  These characters are thrown together seemingly by chance when they wake up the next day wondering "what the hell happened?" and a glaring sparkly stone on Eliza's finger.  Although it has a comical premise, this book is not as fluffy as it sounds.  The sex is a tug-o-war balance between the dominant personalities of each character, filled with steamy romantic plots, hot sex, and has the potential to give you emotional whiplash when you're done reading.

Our Second Chance

Get ready to read a steamy adventure full of obstacles and romance.  Our Second Chance, the first in a three part series, follows Emily, a woman who just knows she has the potential to do more with her life but can't quite figure out how to get there.  A very down-to-earth character that will have you rooting for her the entire time, Emily confronts the what if's of past scenarios and the future of what she wants to experience.  This isn't just an erotica with a substandard plot, this is something more that will have you encouraging Emily to burst out of her comfort zone and try to achieve more.  The romance is steamy, the sex is hot, and the characters feel like actual people--not pawns in a chess board to move around so the sex flows.

Submissives caught on camera

Submissives Caught on Camera is the third book installment following John, Curi and everyone else from the BDSM group of friends.  As before, this one delves deep into the mental role that comes from a true D/s relationship, and ups the creative levels.  This book has plenty of hot sexual scenes, and spices them up so the reader is not bored.  The audience is allowed a look into the different roles that each couple from the group offers, what each person brings to the group, and what sets them apart.  As the group embarks on getting their sexual scenes immortalized through film, scripted roles become more unique.
There is almost a clinical quality to some of the relationships in this.  J.R. Luxor is able to really capture the mentality of both partners in a D/s partnership while still managing to capture the attention of the reader with steamy sexual scenes.  Definitely something that is worth checking out.

Devil May Care series

This is one of those rare two-book reviews that I will do from time-to-time.  In this case, it's time for me to wrap up the Devil May Care series by Julie Kenner and Dee Davis.
These latest two books are written much the same as the first ones -- fast paced, adoring characters with intense erotic scenes sprinkled in.  The difference between these two and the last are that we get to focus on the daughters of Satan.  Given the same choice their brothers were given, the daughters of Satan are tasked with various challenges that will ensure they are the ones who will rule Hell.

Between an assassin-for-hire and and a woman with a knack for espionage and information gathering, these books have a little bit of everything them.  The same question is posed again, will anyone be able to get the thrown of hell for themselves?  Or will the devil remain supreme?

These books will probably leave you a little glossy eyed after you're done reading them--only because there's a high probability they will be read rather quickly.

Hell Fire

This is a long overdue post, and I realize that I have fallen way behind.  Unfortunately, sometimes you just get sick, and that sickness does not want to leave.  So my apologies to all the authors out there waiting on me, and all the readers out there looking for something new to read.

To kick off the series of posts I'll be doing over the next few weeks playing catch-up, here is the second in the Devil May Care series.  The series is done in a unique collaborative effort between two authors.  The second in the series, Hell Fire has all the promise and potential that Raising Hell did.  Following a very different son of hell, with a boredom towards life, you get to follow Marcus as he tries to steal a rare artifact to secure his right to rule the throne of hell.  Of course since this is an erotica, things never go as they should and there is a beautiful girl to distract him from his ultimate goal.

All in all, this is an enjoyable series.  Despite having been written by two authors, they both manage to convey the emotional turmoil in a well written piece that has enough steam to power a few locomotives while keeping the story very cohesive.  Be prepared to read this one in one sitting as well, and possibly the rest of the series if you just can't get enough.

Raising Hell

To kick off the New Year, here is a great book to start with:

Raising Hell has a voice that speaks to my inner artist.  The sheer elegance of how Julie Kenner describes the process of painting, the main character's "trick," brings the imagery to life while using well placed realistic scenes to capture the readers imagination.  It's not hard to envision anything in this book, which is what makes it so wonderful to read.

Of course, from a purely erotica standpoint, this book doesn't disappoint.  Barely into the first chapter the reader is captured by a very quick foursome that manages to give just a little tease that promises more for later, but also gives some insight into Nick (Son of the Devil) -- making him a very fleshed out, sympathetic character.  It's hard to stop reading, and being a quicker book it's something that will have you reading it all in one sitting.  The good news: there's more in the series.  As a collaborative effort, two authors have banded together to bring the masses a sexy series revolving around the sons of hell, with actual plots riddled with some steamy sex.

And I can't forget to mention Delilah, daughter of a priest and the whole premise behind Raising Hell.  A simple seduction tale with the twist of a soul being stolen in the process.  A romantic plot with the main question: Will Nick be able to steal Delilah's soul and capture her beauty in paint, or will he defy the devil himself and risk his life.  Be prepared for some swooning moments during the highs and lows.

The experiences of ups and downs as Nick watches the woman he desires go through a dramatic change (his fault of course) is possibly one of the best parts about this book.  The sex laced with the wild side peaking through is intense, and something that will surely have you wanting to read more to find out the end.

As I've only had a chance to read Raising Hell thus far, I will be sure to post further reviews on the rest of the series as I get to them. I'm eager to see the fruit born from the collaboration of these authors. The first one is worth checking out and will have you possibly looking for a change of undergarments, while simultaneously looking to purchase the next book.
